First stop was the memorial to John Flynn, founder of the Flying Doctor service.
Then on to Simpsons Gap where we walked through some picturesque country for 20 mins to this view
Next stop was Standley Chasm and another short walk
Followed by the Ochre Pits where the aborigines get the pigments for their body paint. Ochre from this pit has been found all over Australia.
Ormiston Gorge and lunch was our next stop, you could bathe at the waterhole there.
Followed by a brief stop at Mt Sondar Lookout for the photos of the surrounding mountain ranges.
And then Glen Helen Gorge, a waterhole on the famous Finke River, said to be the oldest river in the world
And here we are by the waterhole
Finally, we reached Ellory Creek Big Hole commonly known at Alice Beach where John took the plunge and swam across it, but Pat chickened out because of the water temperature). The water is 18 metres deep in the centre.
All of which shows that there is a great deal to see in the NT. Tomorrow, we fly to Uluru for a couple of nights to see the rock.
