In the late afternoon we went down the road to Oak Beach and walked from one end to the other and back, approximately 2 km each way. Oak Beach is one of the best places to view the solar eclipse on November 14 2012, weather permitting, of course.
We then went went to Thala Beach Lodge, which is at the far end of Oak Beach from us, for dinner. Our table looked out into the tree canopy which would have been full of birds during the day. This was John's official birthday treat from James and Helen, as on his birthday we were in Alice Springs and advised to stay in at night.
We continue to enjoy our holiday at Mountain View. The curlews call round several times each evening to see what we have to offer and get very cross when there is nothing left for them. As well as steak, they eat cheese, but turn their beaks up at melon, we are told.
