Our flight took us over the sea so that we could see small islands and the reef.
We landed at Brisbane and took the airport shuttle bus to our hotel which is very central. As night was falling, we wandered out to find our way around the city. There was a Indian festival taking place not far away, we assume another Deepavali celebration. We crossed the river to the south bank which is the arts area and found a jazz concert in progress outside the Performing Arts Centre. There were tables and a restaurant there, so we sat down to eat and listen.
Finally, we strolled round the city and found other events going on. We assume these to be connected to Halloween; we have found plenty of evidence that here this is more than the one night that we are used to. We cannot otherwise explain the troop of about 15 Star Wars storm troopers that we encountered marching along the river bank near the big wheel.
